The Academy of Athens Megaron is one of the parties of “architectural trilogy”, Museum (National Library) – University – Academy, designed in 1859 by Danish architect Theophil Hansen. Considered the most important work of Hansen, and, in the opinion of experts, it is the most beautiful neoclassical building in the world.
Source of the architect’s inspiration was the classic architecture of the Athenian 5th century, as portrayed in the monuments of Acropolis.
